Moon Township Area Information for Greater Pittsburgh

Known as the oldest township in Allegheny County, Moon Township has grown tremendously over the years from its founding in 1788.  With an approximate population of 24,000, Moon Township is home to many large national corporations such as Eaton Electrical Group, Fedex Ground, GlaxoSmithKline, and Nova Chemicals, Inc.

Moon Township is just 12 miles northwest of Pittsburgh, and is conveniently located just minutes from the Pittsburgh International Airport in Findlay Township.  With the addition of the Parkway West and the development of Interstate 376, Moon Township is quite easy to reach by highway.

Moon Township was ranked as one of five best and most affordable suburbs in the northeast by businessweek.com.  In 2013, Moon Township was runner up in the list of top Pittsburgh suburbs to raise a family.

Education and Recreation in Moon Township

The Moon Area School District serves Moon Township.  The district came in at number 16 out of 100+ districts on the list of Regional School Districts in the Pittsburgh Business Times.  The Moon Public Library located on Beaver Grade Road offers various services and technology.  Also home to Moon Township is Robert Morris University.

There are several recreation options for those residents of Moon Township!  The Airport Ice Arena is perfect for the hockey/ice skating enthusiast.
